Staff Development Day Reminders

Greetings, Team!

As we are gearing up for an exciting day of festivities, we would like to send a few reminders that will assist with ensuring a positive experience for all team members. Please be sure to share this information with your team.

·         HPL Staff Development Day is a mandatory work event and all HPL team members are required to attend. Scheduled adjustments/arrangements should have been made so all employees can attend
·         Carpooling is encouraged and HPL team members must send an email to HPL.staffdevelopment@houstontx.gov with their parking preference no later than close of business Tuesday, April 28th. Parking passes will be emailed by Thursday, April 30th  (passes cannot be forwarded or copied). Staff members who do not request a parking pass will need to find and pay for their own parking.
·         HPL team members are expected to attend all sessions and the day is scheduled from 8-5pm.
·         Attire is the normal Friday attire that staff would wear to their worksite
·         Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided
·         FAQs are available on the HPL intranet

Please feel free to contact us with any questions and/or concerns.

Sincerely,
Your SDD Committee

Staff Development Day: We Are HPL!

Dear Colleagues,

We are HPL!  As part of Staff Development Day, we are asking all HPL Teams to create a poster board that expresses the unique qualities of your unit/division, location or office; who you serve; what you offer or what your area is responsible for;  and how you do it.… be creative and share with the rest of HPL!   Please use existing craft supplies in your locations (or borrow from your neighbors).  Non-Neighborhood Library groups are welcome to check out the craft supplies in the Central KIDS Room.

We are defining teams as single locations, divisions/units or groupings; for example, Hillendahl and Ring will do one board between them, LMS is combined on one board, and HPL Spaces, will be one board.  See listing of units/groupings below.

The results of your efforts will be displayed throughout Staff Development Day at the George R. Brown Convention Center.  Attached is an example created by Candece Beverly, Monica Siboldi, and Jonathan McFarland from Alief Neighborhood Library.

We will provide a white 30”X40” foam board to each Team and you will provide the imagination!

The poster board needs to be completed and delivered to Central Library (Suite 629) by April 24, 2015.  If you have any questions, please contact:
