Online Library Card Applications

Greetings,

If a customer desires a library card, it would be a good practice to check the customers I.D. first to see if the customer is in the system and if they have lived in the same address for at least 6 months before sending them to the application process on the computer.  This cuts back with the back-and-forth process with customers going to the computer and back to the service desk.

Thank you

Hot Spots

Greetings,

Please be aware that when a Hot Spot is returned late, check in the Hot Spot and check to see if device is disconnected.  The device can be disconnected because a customer keeps the item past the due date.  I.T. has possibly turned the device off.  If the device is not checked for disconnection, the device will be checked out to another customer disconnected. In turn, the customer cannot use the item.

If device is disconnected, please call the I.T. dept. to reconnect the item before placing the device in the back.

Thank you

Meeting Room

Greetings,

Recently HPL has been receiving meeting room requests from several organizations that are not familiar with our meeting room policies.  It would be a good practice to look over the meeting room request form and rehearse the rules from A-G and questions within the applications.

When a customer requests a room, make sure you go over the policies with them (like hotspots) and make sure the space is clear upon booking.  When it comes to food, customers are only allowed to bring pre packaged food from the store: chips, soda, water, etc. If they pre package at home using zip lock bags or any other material it will be a $25 charge.  This also includes catering.

In addition to the policies from A-G, reinterate to the customers that all meeting requests must be open for public to attend.

Thank you
